Confessional #4

Well, 4 weeks and 30 books, and here we sit on the other end of it all. *cough* Not my quote, by the way. Got it from a book from my favorite author. But anyway, I made it! I was so happy when I realized that Oh my gosh, I sold all my books! It's really encouraging, both because yay, I made my goal!, and because it really has to do with me personally. I mean, I wrote the book I was trying to sell, and people actually wanted to read my book. I think for every author, that's really encouraging.

Before Friday, I was getting really frustrated. I had about 17 books left, and I didn't have anything left to do, or so I thought. And then, on Friday, I sold every last one of my books. I was so proud of myself.

P.S. So sorry there isn't video, for whoever cares...my computer evidently hates me and isn't accepting anything I put into my USB drive, which includes my video camera's cord. >:(

Confessional #3

This week has also gone well! I'm really doing well. I sold 13 books this week alone. That's nearly 2 books a day! Plus, I know for a fact that at least 8 more people want to buy one. That puts me down to 9, plus my family, plus a couple other places I can go...this is really going to work! I'm excited to see what I can sell next week.

Confessional #2

This week has gone really well. Surprisingly well, considering I haven't actually sold any still. I did get prepayed for one, but just got the first shipment of books on Friday afternoon. I only have 5, and all of those are promised to people already. The other 25 will most likely be sold quickly. At this point, I'm just hoping that I don't run out. I can sell maybe 10, 15 at New Tech, possibly 10, 15 at East, and a few at church, and my family will buy a couple. This is going really well. It's almost like a waterfall, rushing along so fast and going so well.

"Confessional" #1

My goal is to sell 30 copies of the novel I wrote. This follows all of the adjectives in the "SMART" acronym, as I explain in the video. This is important to me because I want to donate the money to Writer's Club, which is a good cause, but also because I just really want to get this sold. I've uploaded the novel to CreateSpace, the self-publishing company I use to get the novels, and so I should be able to order copies soon. I haven't used any outside help yet. One time when I felt frustrated was trying to get it formatted just right so it could be printed in a 6 by 9 inch book. Apparently, the way I had it wouldn't work because it didn't scale correctly. So I had to change the size of the pages. At the beginning of working on it I definitely felt motivated. I got all 42 chapters reformatted in a day. And, yeah! This project, if it goes well, will probably be my favorite. :)

Freshman Year so Far...First Update

I have learned a lot so far this year. Although we're only 2 six weeks into it so far, I feel as though I've been here forever, and I can't imagine going anywhere else. I've already decided that I am staying at New Tech all four years.

My favorite thing about this school so far is something that, actually, really has nothing to do with content. I'm in Global Issues right now, typing this. I'm in this classroom every Monday and Friday morning for Writer's Guild, our writing club. This really has to do with the culture of New Tech. Everybody is so supportive and encouraging of each other, which sounds really cheesy but is actually true.

Another thing I love, and is really just the main thing of New Tech, is the projects. Some of them are really fun, and I look forward to that class above all others. Some I haven't liked as much. I'll have more on that later. But the thing is, I don't have a favorite class. My favorite class changes with the projects and the stage of the project we're in. For instance, during the Election project in Global Issues, I hated the debate discussion.  But I loved the part of the project that involved making the puzzle. That puzzle is probably the thing that I'm the most proud of so far.

One of my least favorite END PRODUCTS of a project was for the Bullying project, also for Global Issues. I liked the idea of it, but choosing our own groups proved to be disastrous. No offense to my group members (Olivia Carlson, Iymoni Moore, Garrett Patrick and Alex Copple), but we did not do well on that project.

That wasn't necessarily my least favorite PROJECT, though. That...hmm. I'm not actually sure. Even though it's only been a few months, it's hard to remember every project we've had. I think my least favorite project, group and all, was in Algebra 2 a while ago. We had to design a new Dart rail map, and I didn't like that project that much. It was difficult, and I didn't like half of my group that much, but the other half was okay.

My goals for the future include improving my presentation skills and being the group leader a few more times.
